Spice (American band)

Spice was an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1967. The band featured Rickey Medlocke (vocals, guitar), Greg T. Walker (bass, vocals), and Frank "Cubby" Smith (drums). Before achieving greater success in other groups, Spice is primarily notable for being the precursor to the southern rock band Blackfoot. Medlocke and Walker later formed Blackfoot with other members after Spice disbanded. The band's sound was hard rock influenced by British bands such as Cream and Led Zeppelin. Spice recorded some demos but did not release any official albums or singles during its existence. The band performed primarily in clubs and bars in the Los Angeles area. Due to the similar name to the British pop group Spice Girls, confusion occasionally arises.
