Shengzhou

Shengzhou (嵊州) is a county-level city located in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, China. It is known for its scenic landscapes, including the Tiantai Mountain range, and its rich cultural heritage, particularly in Yue Opera (Shaoxing Opera). Shengzhou is also a significant production base for neckties and other textile products. The local dialect is a form of Wu Chinese. Economically, Shengzhou relies on a mix of agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism. The city's history dates back centuries, with evidence of human settlement in the area dating back to the Neolithic period. It is administered as part of the prefecture-level city of Shaoxing.
