See My Friends (album)

See My Friends is the third studio album by the British rock band the Kinks, released in November 1965. It marked a significant turning point in the band's sound, incorporating influences from Indian classical music and shifting away from the raw, blues-based rock and roll of their earlier work.

The album is notable for its innovative use of drones, particularly on the title track "See My Friends," which is considered by many to be a pioneering example of raga rock, predating the more widely recognized Beatles' exploration of Indian music later the same year with "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)."

While See My Friends (the single) was a commercial success, the album itself was less so, partly due to its release in the UK only as an extended play (EP) and a slightly confusing track listing across different territories. The album contains several other notable songs, including "Tired of Waiting for You," which had already been released as a successful single earlier in the year, and "Ring the Bells."

The album's exploration of new sonic territories and lyrical themes laid the groundwork for the Kinks' later, more experimental and critically acclaimed albums, such as The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society. It is considered an important and influential work in the development of British rock music.
