Scott Baker (right-handed pitcher)
Scott Baker (born September 19, 1981) is a former professional baseball pitcher. Baker primarily played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Minnesota Twins, Chicago Cubs, and Texas Rangers.
Baker was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the second round of the 2003 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut with the Twins in 2005 and quickly became a reliable member of their starting rotation. Known for his control and ability to locate pitches, Baker relied primarily on a fastball, curveball, and changeup.
His most successful seasons came with the Twins. He consistently provided solid innings and maintained a respectable earned run average (ERA). Injuries, particularly to his elbow, hampered his career. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2012, which sidelined him for an extended period.
Following his time with the Twins, Baker signed with the Chicago Cubs in 2013. He later pitched for the Texas Rangers in 2014, marking his final season in the major leagues. After retiring from MLB, Baker has been involved in coaching and player development roles.
