Rod Sykes
Rod Sykes (born October 28, 1929, died January 21, 2010) was a Canadian politician who served as the mayor of Calgary, Alberta, from 1969 to 1977. During his tenure, Calgary experienced significant growth and development, fueled by the energy sector.
Sykes was known for his strong personality and sometimes controversial opinions. He was a vocal advocate for Calgary's interests, particularly regarding its relationship with the federal government and other provinces. He played a key role in securing the 1988 Winter Olympics for Calgary.
