Robert Morey (pastor)
Robert Morey (1946 – 2019) was an American Christian pastor, theologian, and author known for his apologetic and polemical works, particularly those defending biblical inerrancy and critiquing cults, world religions, and atheism. He held a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Columbia Pacific University (an unaccredited institution).
Morey was a prolific writer, publishing numerous books and articles on a wide range of theological and philosophical topics. He was particularly known for his critiques of Islam, Mormonism, and various New Age movements. His arguments often centered around his understanding of biblical theology, systematic theology, and comparative religion.
Some of his best-known works include:
- Death and Afterlife
- The Islamic Invasion
- Battle of the Gods
- Studies in the Atonement
- Reincarnation and Christianity
- Horrendous Evils and the Goodness of God
Morey's work was both influential and controversial within Christian circles. Supporters praised his rigorous approach to apologetics and his willingness to engage with difficult theological questions. Critics, however, sometimes questioned his scholarship and accused him of misrepresenting the views of those he critiqued. His strong and often confrontational style generated debate and discussion within the religious community. His legacy remains a subject of ongoing evaluation.
