Robert Jenkins (British politician)

Robert Jenkins (1871 – 1945) was a British Conservative Party politician. He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Stalybridge and Hyde from 1931 to 1935.

Born in Pembrokeshire, Wales, Jenkins initially worked in the coal industry before entering politics. He was elected in the Conservative landslide victory of 1931, defeating the incumbent Labour MP, Hugh Lawson. During his term, he participated in debates on issues such as unemployment and industrial policy, reflecting the key concerns of his constituents in the Stalybridge and Hyde area.

Jenkins lost his seat in the 1935 general election to Labour's Walter Halls. He did not return to Parliament. Details of his life and political career beyond his parliamentary service are scarce.
