George Bruce (bishop)

George Bruce (died 1430) was a Scottish clergyman who served as Bishop of Dunkeld.

Bruce was appointed to the see of Dunkeld sometime before February 1, 1420, succeeding Robert de Cardeny. He is first recorded as bishop on that date. He appears frequently in surviving records in matters relating to the finances and administration of the diocese, including disputes with the chapter of Dunkeld Cathedral and with the Earl of Atholl regarding lands and rights.

Bruce held the bishopric until his death in 1430. His successor was John de Crannach. His episcopate, while largely undocumented in its details, seems to have been largely focused on the practical management of the diocese and the preservation of its resources.
