Robert Hyde (died 1642)
Robert Hyde (died 1642) was an English barrister and Member of Parliament. He was the son of Sir Lawrence Hyde of West Hatch, Wiltshire, and his wife Barbara Castillion. He trained as a lawyer, becoming a member of the Middle Temple.
Hyde served as a Member of Parliament for Great Bedwyn in 1624 and for Wootton Bassett in 1625. He was also a Justice of the Peace for Wiltshire. He was a substantial landowner in Wiltshire.
He married Anne, daughter of Sir Stephen Tooke of Great Bedwyn. They had children, including Lawrence Hyde, who was created Earl of Rochester. Robert Hyde died in 1642 and was buried at West Hatch. His death occurred before the execution of his cousin, Strafford, and before the full outbreak of the English Civil War.
