Rick Smith (musician)

Rick Smith is a British musician and composer, best known as a founding member of the electronic music group Underworld. He forms one half of the duo alongside Karl Hyde.

Smith is primarily responsible for the music production and instrumental elements of Underworld's output. He has also worked extensively as a composer for film, theatre, and television. His film scores include collaborations with Danny Boyle on films such as Trainspotting, Sunshine, Millions, Trance, T2 Trainspotting, and Yesterday. He also scored Boyle's opening ceremony for the 2012 London Olympics, a widely acclaimed piece of work.

Beyond Underworld and film scores, Smith has been involved in various other musical projects, often pushing the boundaries of electronic music and exploring sound design.
