Rewari

Rewari is a city and a municipal council in Rewari district in the Indian state of Haryana. It is located approximately 82 kilometers southwest of Delhi and is part of the National Capital Region (NCR).

History:

Rewari has a historical significance dating back to the era of the Mahabharata. The city is believed to have been founded by Raja Rawat, a descendant of the Yadava clan, and was originally known as Rewa-Wadi, meaning "garden of Rewa" in honor of his daughter Rewati's marriage. In the 19th century, Rewari gained prominence as a center of the Indian Rebellion of 1857, with local chieftains participating in the uprising against British rule.
