Reverb (non-profit)
Reverb is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to greening the music industry and engaging music fans to take action toward environmental and social causes. Founded in 2004 by environmentalist Lauren Sullivan and musician Adam Gardner (of the band Guster), Reverb partners with musicians, festivals, and music industry leaders to reduce the environmental footprint of live music events and beyond.
Reverb’s work encompasses a wide range of initiatives focused on reducing waste, minimizing carbon emissions, and promoting sustainable practices. This includes implementing recycling programs, sourcing sustainable products, powering events with renewable energy, and offsetting carbon footprints through various projects.
A core component of Reverb's strategy is fan engagement. The organization empowers music fans to take environmental and social action by providing information, resources, and opportunities to get involved through online campaigns and on-site activations at concerts and festivals. These activations often include eco-villages where fans can learn about environmental issues, participate in interactive displays, and support local environmental organizations.
Reverb also works with artists to promote environmental awareness and activism through their music and platforms. This involves incorporating environmental messaging into performances, advocating for policy changes, and raising funds for environmental causes. The organization's impact is measured through its ability to divert waste from landfills, reduce carbon emissions, and engage fans in environmental and social action, making it a significant force in the greening of the music industry.
