R838 road (Ireland)
The R838 is a regional road in Ireland. It is located entirely within the city of Dublin. The road is primarily a loop road off the R148 (formerly the N4) providing access to residential and commercial areas west of the city centre.
The R838 begins at a junction with the R148 (Ellis Quay) on the north bank of the River Liffey. It then travels north along Blackhall Place, continuing onto St Brendan's Way and then onto the North Circular Road, forming a portion of the North Circular Road's western segment. It then turns south onto the Conyngham Road before rejoining the R148 (Parkgate Street) along the River Liffey to complete the loop.
The road's primary function is to provide local access to areas such as Stoneybatter and the Phoenix Park. It is a relatively busy route due to its location within the city and its connection to major arterial routes.
