Quinta (musician)
Quinta Brunson (born December 21, 1989) is an American actress, writer, producer, and comedian. She gained prominence for her self-produced Instagram and YouTube series, Girl Who Has Never Been on a Nice Date.
Brunson is the creator, executive producer, writer, and star of the ABC comedy series Abbott Elementary. She plays Janine Teagues, a young, optimistic teacher at an underfunded Philadelphia public school. For her work on Abbott Elementary, Brunson has received critical acclaim and numerous awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series in 2022, making her the first Black woman to be solely nominated three times in the comedy category in the same year. She also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy in 2023.
Before Abbott Elementary, Brunson was a video producer for BuzzFeed, where she created and starred in several popular web series. She has also acted in television shows such as A Black Lady Sketch Show, Miracle Workers, and voiced roles in animated series like Lazor Wulf. Brunson has also written for shows such as Big Mouth.
