Punavuori

Punavuori (Swedish: Rödbergen) is a neighbourhood in Helsinki, Finland. It is located south of the city center and is known for its bohemian atmosphere, numerous restaurants, bars, art galleries, and boutiques.

Historically a working-class district, Punavuori has undergone significant gentrification since the late 20th century. While retaining some of its older charm, it is now considered a trendy and desirable area to live in. The architecture is characterized by a mix of old and new buildings, with many Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) structures.

Punavuori is sometimes referred to as "Red Hill" in English, a direct translation of its Swedish name. The Finnish name, Punavuori, translates to "Red Mountain." The origin of the name is not definitively known, but theories suggest it could relate to the red-colored rock formations found in the area or perhaps a historical reference to the color associated with the working class.

The area is well-connected to the rest of Helsinki by public transport, including trams and buses. Significant landmarks and points of interest within or near Punavuori include Sinebrychoff Park and the Design Museum.
