Provincial Highway 11 is a vital transportation artery for the eastern coast of Taiwan, serving both local residents and tourists. It provides access to several popular tourist destinations, including Taroko National Park (via connecting roads), the East Coast National Scenic Area, and numerous beaches and surfing spots.
While generally well-maintained, parts of the highway can be affected by typhoons and other natural disasters, occasionally leading to temporary closures or detours. The road is generally two lanes wide for most of its length, with some sections having additional lanes in urban areas.
The highway is popular with cyclists and motorcyclists, who appreciate the scenic views and relatively light traffic, especially outside of peak tourist seasons. Several rest stops and viewpoints are located along the route, allowing travelers to pause and enjoy the scenery.
