Poronin
Poronin is a village in southern Poland, situated in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship (Małopolskie) near Zakopane. It lies in the Tatra Mountains region and is part of the Gmina Poronin, serving as its administrative seat.
Poronin is known primarily for its history and association with Vladimir Lenin, who stayed there before World War I, using it as a base for political activities. A museum dedicated to Lenin once existed in Poronin, though it has since been repurposed.
The village is also a popular tourist destination, offering access to the Tatra Mountains and providing accommodation and services for visitors. It benefits from its proximity to Zakopane, a major winter sports center. The local economy relies on tourism, agriculture, and small businesses.
