Ponava

Ponava is a historical and informal name for a portion of the city of Brno, Czech Republic. Specifically, it refers to the area along the Svratka River north of the city center, roughly corresponding to the area between the city center and the district of Královo Pole. While not an administrative district, the name "Ponava" persists in local usage, often associated with specific landmarks and institutions found within the area. The name derives from the historical presence of mills and water-related activities along the river. The area is now characterized by a mix of residential buildings, industrial sites (historically), and green spaces alongside the Svratka. The football club FC Zbrojovka Brno's stadium is located in the Ponava area.
