Poison Ivy (musician)
Kristy Marlana Wallace (born February 7, 1953), most famously known as Poison Ivy or Poison Ivy Rorschach, is an American guitarist, songwriter, and producer. She is best known as a founding member, guitarist, and songwriter for the rock and roll band The Cramps.
Poison Ivy's distinctive guitar style, characterized by heavy use of reverb, tremolo, and fuzz, was a key element of The Cramps' unique sound, which blended rockabilly, garage rock, and punk influences into a style often categorized as psychobilly.
Throughout The Cramps' career, Ivy co-wrote the majority of the band's original songs with her husband and bandmate, Lux Interior. She also produced and co-produced several of The Cramps' albums. Beyond her work with The Cramps, Poison Ivy has maintained a relatively low profile, but her influence on guitar playing and alternative music is widely recognized.
Following Lux Interior's death in 2009, Poison Ivy has largely remained out of the public eye. Her legacy as a pioneering female guitarist and influential figure in the punk and psychobilly scenes continues to be celebrated.
