Piazzolla (crater)

Piazzolla is a relatively small lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon. It is located to the south-southwest of the larger crater Mach, and northeast of Hendrix.

This crater has a well-defined, circular rim that has suffered only minor erosion. The interior walls slope down smoothly to a slightly irregular interior floor. There are no significant craters lying on the rim or within the interior. Piazzolla appears relatively young compared to the more heavily eroded and cratered terrain that surrounds it.

Piazzolla is named after the Argentine tango composer and bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla. The name was officially adopted by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 2005.
