Paul Stewart (racing driver)
Paul Stewart (born October 29, 1965, in Dumbarton, Scotland) is a British former racing driver and team owner. He is the son of three-time Formula One World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart and Helen McGregor.
Stewart began his racing career in the late 1980s, competing in Formula Ford and British Formula 3, achieving moderate success. He progressed to Formula 3000 in the early 1990s, but his career was curtailed in 1993 after a serious accident at Brands Hatch. The accident severely injured his leg and ended his driving aspirations.
Following his retirement from driving, Stewart, along with his father Jackie, founded Stewart Grand Prix in 1996. The team competed in Formula One from 1997 to 1999, using Ford engines. The team achieved its first and only victory at the 1999 European Grand Prix with Johnny Herbert behind the wheel.
At the end of the 1999 season, Ford acquired Stewart Grand Prix, rebranding it as Jaguar Racing for the 2000 season. Paul Stewart initially remained involved with the team, but his role diminished over time.
In addition to his involvement in motorsport, Stewart has been involved in various business ventures and charitable activities. He has also worked as a commentator and pundit for motorsport events.
