Nevėžis

The Nevėžis is the sixth longest river in Lithuania. It flows for 209 km (130 mi) and has a drainage basin of 6,141 km² (2,371 sq mi). Its source is near the town of Anykščiai, and it flows into the Nemunas River near Raudondvaris, Kaunas district municipality.

The river is notable for its meandering course and relatively slow flow. It is often referred to as the "river of curves" due to its sinuous path. The Nevėžis valley is characterized by meadows, forests, and agricultural land.

The city of Panevėžys is situated on the banks of the Nevėžis. The river has historical and cultural significance, featuring in Lithuanian folklore and literature. Its name is believed to be of Baltic origin, potentially related to words for "new" or "fresh."
