Patrick White (bishop)
Patrick White (1883-1940) was an Irish Roman Catholic clergyman who served as Bishop of Killaloe from 1923 until his death.
Born in Nenagh, County Tipperary, he was educated at St. Patrick's College, Maynooth. He was ordained a priest in 1907 and served in various parishes within the Diocese of Killaloe.
White was appointed Bishop of Killaloe by Pope Pius XI in 1923, succeeding Michael Fogarty. His episcopate was marked by a strong emphasis on Catholic education and social action within the diocese. He oversaw the construction and renovation of several schools and churches. He was known for his pastoral care and his efforts to address poverty and emigration in the region. White played a role in promoting Catholic social teaching and encouraging lay involvement in Church affairs. He died in 1940 and is buried in Ennis Cathedral.
