Panthalassa (horse)

Panthalassa (Japanese: パンサラッサ, foaled January 25, 2017) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse known for his front-running style and stamina. He notably won the 2022 Dubai Turf Stakes (G1) and the 2022 Saudi Cup (G1), the latter being the richest horse race in the world. Bred by Hiroo Racing and trained by Yoshito Yahagi, Panthalassa is a son of Lord Kanaloa out of Miss Pemberley by Montjeu. He is typically ridden by jockey Yutaka Yoshida. His racing career has primarily been focused on middle-distance turf races, though he has also demonstrated aptitude on dirt surfaces. While possessing considerable speed and a willingness to lead from the start, Panthalassa’s consistency has varied throughout his career.
