Ontario Reign (ECHL)
The Ontario Reign were a professional ice hockey team in the ECHL, based in Ontario, California. They played in the West Division of the Western Conference. The Reign were founded in 2008 and served as an affiliate of the American Hockey League's (AHL) Manchester Monarchs and the National Hockey League's (NHL) Los Angeles Kings. Their home games were played at the Toyota Arena.
In 2015, the Los Angeles Kings relocated their AHL affiliate from Manchester to Ontario, keeping the Reign name. This AHL team replaced the ECHL team, effectively ending the ECHL franchise's operation. The ECHL team's players and assets were dispersed to other teams within the league. The franchise was a member of the ECHL for seven seasons, during which time it developed numerous players who eventually played at higher levels of professional hockey. The Ontario Reign (ECHL) achieved notable success, including a Brabham Cup championship awarded to the regular-season points leader in the ECHL.
