Omberg
Omberg is a prominent table mountain located in the municipality of Ödeshög, Östergötland County, Sweden. Rising approximately 175 meters above the surrounding plains, Omberg offers extensive views of Lake Vättern and the surrounding landscape.
Geology and Formation:
Omberg's distinctive shape is a result of its geological composition. The mountain is primarily composed of Cambrian sandstone, which is more resistant to erosion than the surrounding sedimentary rocks. During periods of glaciation, the ice sheets sculpted the landscape, leaving Omberg as a prominent remnant of a former plateau. The steep cliffs and ravines around the perimeter of Omberg are further evidence of this glacial erosion.
