Oliver Taylor (footballer, born 1869)

Oliver Taylor (born in 1869, date of death unknown) was an English footballer who played as a full-back.

Taylor began his footballing career playing for local sides before joining Small Heath Alliance (later Birmingham City) in 1889. He quickly established himself in the first team and became a regular fixture in the defence.

Taylor was known for his strong tackling and no-nonsense approach to defending. He was part of the Small Heath side that secured promotion to the Football League First Division in 1894, having finished second in the Second Division. He continued to play for the club in the top flight, but the team struggled and were eventually relegated back to the Second Division.

It is believed he left Small Heath in the late 1890s. Information regarding his playing career after this point is scarce. His overall contribution to Small Heath, however, remains recognized by football historians.
