Old Main (University of Wyoming)

Old Main is the oldest building on the University of Wyoming's Laramie campus. Construction began in 1886, shortly after the university's founding, and it was completed in 1887. Initially, Old Main housed the entire university, including classrooms, laboratories, a library, and administrative offices. The building is architecturally significant as an example of late 19th-century educational architecture.

Throughout its history, Old Main has undergone several renovations and expansions to accommodate the growing needs of the university. While its original function as the sole building for the University has long since passed, it continues to serve an important role.

Currently, Old Main primarily houses administrative offices, including the offices of the President and other high-ranking university officials. It is also a popular location for university events and ceremonies. Old Main remains a symbolic landmark of the University of Wyoming, representing its history and tradition. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
