Octopus (English band)

Octopus were an English rock band active in the early 1970s. They were formed in London and are best known for their progressive rock sound, incorporating elements of psychedelia, jazz, and classical music.

The band released two studio albums: Restless Night (1971) and An Ocean of Tears (1972). While neither album achieved significant commercial success, they are now considered cult classics among fans of progressive rock.

Octopus's lineup consisted of Pete Daltrey (vocals), Keith Pearson (guitar), Ian MacMillan (keyboards), Derek Foley (bass), and Brian Foley (drums). Their music is characterized by complex arrangements, extended instrumental passages, and Daltrey's distinctive vocals.

Following the release of their second album, Octopus disbanded. Members pursued various other musical projects, but the band's discography remains a testament to their unique and relatively obscure contribution to the progressive rock scene of the early 1970s.
