Norm Ferguson (animator)

Norm Ferguson (1902 – 1957) was an American animator best known for his work at Walt Disney Productions. He was a key animator during the studio's early years, contributing significantly to the development of character animation and personality. Ferguson is often credited with refining the personalities and movements of iconic Disney characters like Pluto and the Big Bad Wolf, injecting humor and distinctive traits that made them memorable. He developed techniques for squash and stretch animation that became a cornerstone of Disney's animation style. His influence can be seen in the fluid and expressive animation of many classic Disney films. While not always the sole credited director, Ferguson's contributions as an animator and personality developer were vital to the success of numerous Disney animated shorts and features. He worked on films such as Steamboat Willie, Three Little Pigs, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, and Alice in Wonderland.
