NGC 86

NGC 86 is a lenticular galaxy located in the constellation Andromeda. It is estimated to be approximately 280 million light-years away from Earth. This galaxy was discovered on November 22, 1884, by the French astronomer Guillaume Bigourdan. NGC 86 is a relatively faint object, with an apparent magnitude of around 14.6.

Lenticular galaxies like NGC 86 possess characteristics intermediate between spiral and elliptical galaxies. They typically have a central bulge and a disk, but lack prominent spiral arms. They are often considered to be galaxies that have exhausted much of their gas supply, leading to a cessation of significant star formation within the disk.
