NGC 7541
NGC 7541 is a barred spiral galaxy located approximately 120 million light-years away in the constellation Pisces. It is classified as an SBbc galaxy, indicating a spiral galaxy with a prominent bar structure and moderately loosely wound spiral arms.
NGC 7541 is a member of the NGC 7537 group of galaxies. It is interacting gravitationally with its nearby companion galaxy, NGC 7537. This interaction is evidenced by tidal distortions and plumes observed in the outer regions of NGC 7541. The gravitational interaction likely triggers enhanced star formation activity within the galaxy.
The galaxy has a diameter of roughly 150,000 light-years, making it slightly larger than our own Milky Way galaxy. Its visual magnitude is approximately 12.3. Observations across various wavelengths, including optical, infrared, and radio, have been used to study the galaxy's structure, star formation rate, and the impact of its interaction with NGC 7537.
