Mr. Murder (miniseries)
Mr. Murder is a two-part television miniseries based on the novel of the same name by Dean Koontz. It originally aired on ABC in 1998.
The miniseries stars Stephen Baldwin as Marty Stillwater, a thriller novelist whose life is turned upside down when he discovers he is one of two men created from the same genetic material. The other man, known as Drew Oslett (played by Thomas Haden Church), is a remorseless killer who seeks to eliminate Marty and assume his identity.
The plot revolves around Marty's struggle to protect his family – his wife Paige (played by Julie Warner) and their two sons – from Drew's relentless pursuit. The miniseries explores themes of identity, genetic engineering, and the nature of good and evil, common in Koontz's work.
While adapting elements from the novel, the miniseries makes some significant changes to the storyline and characters. It garnered mixed reviews upon its release, with some critics praising the performances of Baldwin and Church, while others criticized the pacing and deviations from the source material.
