Love and Rockets (band)

Love and Rockets were an English alternative rock band formed in 1985 by former Bauhaus members Daniel Ash (guitar, saxophone, vocals), David J (bass, vocals), and Kevin Haskins (drums). Their name was taken from the comic book series Love and Rockets by Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez.

Following the breakup of Bauhaus in 1983, the trio initially pursued separate projects. Ash and Haskins formed Tones on Tail, while David J embarked on a solo career. However, they eventually reunited as Love and Rockets, aiming for a sound that differed from the darker, gothic rock style of Bauhaus.

Their music incorporated elements of psychedelic rock, pop, and glam rock. They achieved commercial success with their 1989 self-titled album, which featured the hit single "So Alive," reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.

Other notable albums include Express (1986), Earth, Sun, Moon (1987), and Hot Trip to Heaven (1994), each showcasing their evolving musical direction. Throughout their career, Love and Rockets experimented with various genres and instrumentation, solidifying their reputation as a versatile and influential alternative rock band.

The band went through periods of inactivity and officially disbanded in 1999, though they briefly reunited for performances at Coachella in 2008. Love and Rockets left a lasting impact on the alternative music scene and continue to be appreciated by fans worldwide.
