Mr. Bogus
Mr. Bogus is the title character of a short-lived but memorable American animated television series that originally aired from 1991 to 1993. The show centered around Mr. Bogus, a mischievous and often inept gremlin-like creature who lives inside the walls of an average suburban home, and frequently interacts with, and causes trouble for, the human inhabitants.
The character was initially conceived and animated using stop-motion animation for segments of the syndicated cartoon showcase Wake, Rattle, and Roll. Due to the popularity of these shorts, Mr. Bogus received his own dedicated animated series, utilizing a combination of traditional hand-drawn animation and computer animation for Mr. Bogus himself.
The humor in Mr. Bogus stemmed from slapstick antics, visual gags, and Mr. Bogus's childlike curiosity and lack of understanding of the human world. Episodes typically revolved around Mr. Bogus attempting to imitate human activities or creating inventive solutions to his own problems, often with disastrous or humorous results. The show maintained a lighthearted and family-friendly tone, despite the disruptive nature of its main character. Although it didn't achieve widespread mainstream success, Mr. Bogus has retained a cult following due to its unique character design and comedic style.
