Moulton (crater)

Moulton is a lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon, just behind the eastern limb. It is located to the southeast of the Mare Marginis, and southwest of the crater Apollonius. To the southeast of Moulton is the crater Erro.

This is a heavily eroded crater with a low, rounded outer rim. The crater floor is relatively level, and is marked only by a few tiny craterlets. A cluster of small craters is attached to the exterior of the northeast rim. Due to its location, Moulton is subject to libration, and can occasionally be brought into view from the Earth, although at a very oblique angle. This limits the amount of detail that can be observed from terrestrial telescopes.
