The USS Mississippi (SSN-782) is a Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarine of the United States Navy. She is the ninth ship of the class, and the third United States Navy vessel to be named after the state of Mississippi.

The Virginia-class submarines are designed for a wide range of missions, including anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, strike warfare, intelligence gathering, and special operations support. They are equipped with advanced sonar, weapons, and communication systems. The USS Mississippi is armed with Tomahawk cruise missiles and Mark 48 torpedoes.
The submarine's propulsion system consists of a nuclear reactor and steam turbines, providing a virtually unlimited range and endurance. The USS Mississippi is capable of operating at depths of over 800 feet and at speeds in excess of 25 knots.
The ship's motto is "Virtute et Armis," which is Latin for "By Valor and Arms." The ship's sponsor was Allison Stiller, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Ship Programs.
The USS Mississippi is currently in active service with the U.S. Pacific Fleet. She is homeported at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
