Babak Khorramdin (director)

Babak Khorramdin (Persian: بابک خرمدین; born 1974, Tehran – died 2021, Tehran) was an Iranian film director. He was known for his short and documentary films focusing on social issues and cultural themes.

Khorramdin received a bachelor's degree in Cinematography from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Tehran. He then obtained a master's degree in the same field.

His filmography includes short films such as "A Wednesday Afternoon" (چهارشنبه بعدازظهر), "Oath to Narjes" (نذر نرجس), and "The Mud Pit" (گودال). He also directed documentary films, including "The Faith of a Tree" (ایمان یک درخت).

Khorramdin's work often explored themes of loneliness, isolation, and the struggles of ordinary people within Iranian society.

Tragically, Babak Khorramdin was murdered by his parents in May 2021. The motive was reportedly related to family disputes and disapproval of his lifestyle. The case garnered significant media attention and sparked public outrage in Iran.
