Dumfries Burghs (Commonwealth Parliament constituency)
Dumfries Burghs was a parliamentary constituency represented in the Parliament of Scotland from 1665, and then in the Parliament of Great Britain from 1707 to 1708, and in the Parliament of Great Britain from 1708 to 1801. From 1801 to 1918 it sent one Member of Parliament to the Parliament of the United Kingdom. In 1918 it was replaced by the Dumfries constituency.
Following the English Civil War and the establishment of the Commonwealth, Scotland was allocated representation in the Parliament of England. Dumfries Burghs was one of the constituencies created for this purpose, electing one Member. It consisted of the burghs of Dumfries, Annan, Kirkcudbright, Lochmaben, and Sanquhar. Representation in the English Parliament lasted from 1654 to 1659.
