Moose Jaw (federal electoral district)

Moose Jaw was a federal electoral district in Saskatchewan, Canada, that existed from 1908 to 1968, and again from 1988 to 1997.

History:

The riding was first created in 1907 from parts of the former districts of Assiniboia West and Qu'Appelle. It was abolished in 1966 when it was redistributed into the ridings of Assiniboia, Moose Jaw, and Qu'Appelle–Moose Mountain.

The riding was recreated in 1987 from parts of Moose Jaw and Assiniboia ridings. It was abolished again in 1996 when it was redistributed into the ridings of Palliser and Souris–Moose Mountain.

Geography:

The electoral district covered the city of Moose Jaw and surrounding rural areas in south-central Saskatchewan. Its boundaries shifted slightly throughout its existence, reflecting population changes and redistributions.

Representation:

Throughout its history, Moose Jaw was represented by Members of Parliament (MPs) from various political parties, including the Liberal Party, the Conservative Party, the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF), and the Progressive Conservative Party.
