Mogwai
Mogwai refers primarily to two distinct subjects:
-
Mogwai (Creature): In the fictional universe of the 1984 film Gremlins and its sequel, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, a Mogwai is a small, furry creature that is initially cute and gentle. However, there are three important rules that must be followed concerning their care: they must not be exposed to bright light, especially sunlight (which will kill them); they must not be allowed to get wet; and, most importantly, they must never be fed after midnight. If fed after midnight, the Mogwai transforms into a destructive and dangerous gremlin. The term "Mogwai" in the film is Cantonese for "evil spirit" or "devil."
-
Mogwai (Band): Mogwai is a Scottish post-rock band, formed in Glasgow in 1995. Known for their long, instrumental compositions and dynamic shifts between quiet, melodic passages and loud, heavily distorted sections, they are considered one of the most influential bands in the post-rock genre. Their music often features cinematic soundscapes and minimal vocals.
