Philip Newman (cricketer)
Philip Newman (born 17 June 1884, date of death unknown) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Oxford University and Hampshire.
Newman was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. He appeared in 16 first-class matches, playing for Oxford University from 1906 to 1908 and for Hampshire in 1909. His highest score was 68 for Oxford University against Surrey in 1907. He took 12 first-class wickets, with a best of 3 for 38 for Oxford University against Lancashire in 1907.
His career was relatively short, limited to his time at university and a single season with Hampshire. Further biographical details are scarce.
