Mike Hastings (ice hockey)

Mike Hastings (born April 26, 1966) is an American ice hockey coach. He is currently the head coach of the University of Wisconsin–Madison men's ice hockey team.

Hastings' coaching career spans multiple levels of hockey, including junior, college, and professional. He spent 12 seasons (2012-2024) as the head coach of the Minnesota State University, Mankato men's ice hockey team, where he built a consistent national contender. During his tenure at Minnesota State, he led the Mavericks to numerous conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances, including a trip to the Frozen Four in 2021 and 2022.

Prior to his time at Minnesota State, Hastings spent three seasons (2008-2011) as the head coach and general manager of the Omaha Lancers in the United States Hockey League (USHL). Before that, he was the head coach of the Sioux Falls Stampede, also in the USHL, for 14 seasons (1994-2008), winning the Clark Cup championship in 2007.

Hastings also served as an assistant coach for Team USA at the 2022 Winter Olympics. He is known for his player development skills and his ability to build strong team cultures. He was announced as the head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers on March 28, 2024.
