Mathieu Blanchette (computational biologist)

Mathieu Blanchette is a Canadian computational biologist and professor in the School of Computer Science at McGill University. He is known for his research in the areas of comparative genomics, regulatory genomics, and bioinformatics algorithm development.

Blanchette's research focuses on developing and applying computational methods to understand the evolution and function of genomes. This includes work on sequence alignment, motif discovery, phylogenetic analysis, and the prediction of gene regulatory networks. He is particularly interested in understanding the non-coding portions of genomes and their roles in gene regulation.

Blanchette obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Washington. His research has been published in leading scientific journals and conferences. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his contributions to the field of bioinformatics. He is actively involved in training graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. His work aims to further understanding of fundamental biological processes and has implications for human health and disease.
