Mary McEvoy (artist)

Mary McEvoy (born 1950 in Dublin, Ireland) is an Irish visual artist, primarily known for her abstract landscape paintings. She works mainly in oil paint, often layering the paint to create texture and depth. Her paintings frequently explore themes of memory, place, and the Irish landscape, drawing inspiration from the colours, textures, and atmosphere of the natural world.

McEvoy studied at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. She has exhibited extensively throughout Ireland and internationally, with solo shows in Dublin, London, and New York. Her work is included in numerous public and private collections, including the Arts Council of Ireland, the National Gallery of Ireland, and the Irish Museum of Modern Art.

McEvoy's artistic practice also includes printmaking and drawing. She often uses drawing as a preparatory stage for her larger paintings. In addition to her studio practice, McEvoy has taught art workshops and lectured on her work. Her work is characterized by its evocative use of colour, gestural brushstrokes, and a sense of tranquility.
