MRT Line 7 (Metro Manila)
The Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) is a rapid transit line under construction in Metro Manila, Philippines. It is a mostly elevated line, spanning approximately 22.8 kilometers (14.2 miles) from San Jose del Monte, Bulacan to North Avenue, Quezon City. The line aims to connect northern Metro Manila and Bulacan to the existing MRT lines 3 and LRT Line 1, providing commuters with a faster and more efficient mode of transportation and alleviating traffic congestion in the region.
The project involves the construction of 14 stations: San Jose del Monte, Tala, Quirino, Sacred Heart, Mindanao Avenue, Regalado, U.P. - Philcoa, Tandang Sora, Don Antonio, Batasan, Manggahan, GMA - Kamuning, Quezon Memorial Circle, and North Avenue. The line is being built by private concessionaire San Miguel Corporation, and upon completion, operation and maintenance will also be handled by them for a period of 25 years.
The MRT-7 is expected to significantly reduce travel time between San Jose del Monte and North Avenue. The planned integration with existing rail lines is intended to create a more cohesive and interconnected public transportation network within Metro Manila. The project has faced delays due to right-of-way acquisition issues and other logistical challenges. The target opening date has been repeatedly pushed back, and current estimations project full operation sometime in the future. The line's capacity is designed to accommodate a significant number of passengers daily, contributing to decongestion efforts in Metro Manila.
