Lyutizh (Лютеж)

Lyutizh is a village located in the Vyshhorod Raion of Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine. Situated north of Kyiv on the right bank of the Dnieper River, it is approximately 30 kilometers from the capital city.

Historically, Lyutizh is known as the site of significant fighting during World War II. The Lyutizh bridgehead was a crucial strategic point in the Battle of Kyiv in 1943, serving as the launching point for the Soviet offensive that ultimately liberated the city from Nazi occupation. Heavy casualties were sustained on both sides during this period.

Today, Lyutizh is a primarily agricultural village. It also serves as a residential area for people working in Kyiv due to its proximity and relatively quiet environment. Memorials and monuments commemorating the events of World War II are present in the village and surrounding area, serving as reminders of the region's history.
