Lysva (river)
The Lysva is a river in Perm Krai, Russia. It is a left tributary of the Chusovaya River.
Geography:
The Lysva originates on the western slopes of the Ural Mountains. It flows primarily in a westerly direction through a hilly, forested landscape. It joins the Chusovaya River near the town of Lysva. The river's length is approximately 66 kilometers (41 miles).
Hydrology:
The Lysva is fed primarily by snowmelt and rainfall. Its flow is highest during the spring thaw and can experience flash floods after heavy rainfall. The river freezes over in late October or early November and remains ice-covered until April.
Uses:
The Lysva has historically been used for timber rafting and water supply. The town of Lysva, located at its confluence with the Chusovaya, was founded as a mining settlement due to the river's water resources. Today, its primary uses are recreational.
