Funter Bay
Funter Bay is a bay located on the northwestern coast of Admiralty Island in Southeast Alaska, United States. It is characterized by its remote location and relatively pristine wilderness. The bay extends inland from Chatham Strait and offers scenic views, opportunities for wildlife viewing, and recreational activities like kayaking and hiking. Due to its location within the Tongass National Forest, access to Funter Bay is primarily by boat or floatplane. The bay has a history tied to resource extraction, including logging and mining activities, although current land management prioritizes conservation and recreation. The name "Funter" is believed to be of Tlingit origin.
