Lynn Peterson (American politician)

Lynn Peterson is an American politician and transportation planner from the state of Oregon. She served as the President of the Oregon Senate from 2011 to 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, she represented Senate District 23, which included portions of Multnomah County, encompassing areas like Portland, Fairview, and Troutdale.

Peterson's career has focused significantly on transportation policy and planning. Before entering the Oregon Senate, she served as a Clackamas County Commissioner. Prior to that, she worked for the Portland Bureau of Transportation and TriMet, the Portland area's regional transportation authority.

As Senate President, Peterson played a role in the passage of legislation related to education, healthcare, and economic development, in addition to transportation initiatives.

In 2013, Peterson was nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as the Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). She was confirmed by the Senate in 2014 and served in that role until 2016.
